Lettuce (Safe)

Lettuce is a very harmless food which guinea pigs enjoy. Beware though, it is mostly water and not very nutritious.

Bell peppers (Safe)

Cabbage (Safe)

Both red and green cabbage is safe for pigs. Feed in small servings to avoid excessive bloating.

Carrots (Safe)

Celery (Safe)

Celery has a high water content, so feed in moderation. To be extra safe, remove the stringy veins as they can be a choking hazard.

Bok choy (Safe)

Bok choy is good for pigs as it has high amounts of Vitamin C. As it is a type of cabbage, feed in moderation to avoid bloating.

Chicory (Safe)

Guinea pigs can eat chicory in small amounts due to its calcium and phosphorus content.

Choy sum (Safe)

Choy sum is a close relative of bok choy and can be fed in small amounts.

Green beans (Safe)

Make sure to remove the stem and leaves, and wash thoroughly.

Kohlrabi (Safe)

Kohlrabi is similar to cabbage and has some great nutrients like Vitamin C.

Tomatoes (Safe)

Tomato fruits are great for pigs as they have high Vitamin C content. However, the green stems and leaves are POISONOUS so be careful.

Avocado (Not safe)

Avocadoes are too high in fat content. That's bad for pigs.

Beans (Not safe)

Beans cause excessive bloating. Not to be confused with green beans, which are safe.

Too spicy for their gentle stomachs.

Coconut of any kind is too high in fat.

Caffeine is dangerous for guinea pigs. Don't they zoom around enough already?

Garlic (Not safe)

Garlic is poisonous to guinea pigs.

Leeks (Not safe)

Leeks, like onions, have acidic bulbs that are not suitable for piggies.

Onions (Not safe)

Onions of all kinds (including spring onions) are not safe. The bulbs are too acidic.

Pork (Not safe)

Pigs don't eat pig! What are they, cannibals?

Potatoes (Not safe)

Rhubarb (Not safe)

Rhubarb is extremely poisonous to guinea pigs! It is high in oxalic acid which can cause kidney failure.

Spring onions (Not safe)

It's best to avoid spring onions as the bulbs are too acidic. Some say the green part is OK, but I wouldn't risk it.
